Our Primary computing curriculum empowers students with the skills and knowledge to safely navigate and create in a rapidly changing digital world. At St John the Baptist, we use the Purple Mash learning platform which offers a range of open-ended tools, coding activities, publishing projects and educational games for KS1 & KS2. Through interactive and engaging lessons, pupils learn the basics of coding, digital communication and online safety. They explore how computers work, develop simple programs and use technology and multimedia to express their creativity. Where possible, we foster the use of technology in cross-curricular projects such as data-handling in maths, researching a topic or word publishing in English. By integrating computing across various subjects, we ensure students understand the relevance and impact of technology in everyday life. Our curriculum not only equips pupils with essential skills for the future but also fosters problem-solving, collaboration and critical thinking, making learning both fun and relevant in today’s digital age.
