YEAR OF JUBILEE - Pilgrims of Hope
This week we have been making exciting plans for how we can celebrate and live out our theme of being ‘Pilgrims of Hope’. In the Catholic Church, a Jubilee or Holy Year is a special year of forgiveness and reconciliation, in which people are invited to come back into the right relationship with God, with one another and with all of creation. On 24th December, Pope Francis marked the start of the Jubilee year by the opening of the Holy Door of St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican - these doors are only opened during a Jubilee year. A Jubilee Year is celebrated by the Church every 25 years. In the Jubilee Year, school communities are invited to join together as Pilgrims of Hope, pledging to work together for God’s kingdom of justice, peace and love.
